"Monkey See, Monkey Don't" is the 12th episode of Season 2.
Characters[]
Summary[]
Ren and Stimpy, seeing how the animals at the zoo get free handouts from visitors, disguise themselves as primates and apply for positions in the monkey house. As the other monkey, "Filthy", gets good food, Stimpy ends up getting old nutshells and pre-chewed gum, while Ren only gets a rock. Then they decide to get a transfer as a bird and a hippopotamus.
Trivia[]
- This episode was conceived, storyboarded, and partially underwent layout at Spümcø. However, it was otherwise mostly completed at Games, becoming the first episode of the show to be primarily produced by the latter following John K's firing.
- This is John K's least favorite episode along with "The Littlest Giant". It is also one of the few Season 2 episodes in which he receives no credit.
- The extended version of "I'm Gonna Be A Monkey" can be found on the You Eediot! CD.
- This is the first full episode where Billy West voices Ren; West had previously done the role in the "What Do We Till Then?" segment of "Sven Höek".
- This episode is not on Paramount+, due to the presence of a Raymond Scott music track ("At an Arabian House Party", heard in the opening scene) and the music clearance rights involving it.
- Ren getting only a rock from the zoo visitors instead of food is a reference to the 1966 Peanuts Halloween special It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, specifically the famous scene where the kids go trick-or-treating and Charlie Brown only gets rocks instead of candy.
- In later years, this episode was paired with "Big Baby Scam", airing before the latter.
