Gregg Vanzo is an animator, animation director, character designer, storyboard artist, layout artist and director who, alongside his wife, Nikki, established Rough Draft Studios in 1991.
Early Career[]
Vanzo got his start around 1985 working for Sunbrow/Marvel Productions before working with Kroyer Films for a while before working on the Looney Tunes short. “Box Office Bunny” before he eventually found work on The Simpsons for Season 1 and 2.
Rough Draft Studios[]
- Around 1991. He and his wife. Nikki. First established RDS in their garage in their Van Nuys, California home. [1] And while working on The Ren & Stimpy Show. Gregg wanted to help overseas animation studios to not be treated as a joke as eventually, Nikki told John Kricfalusi that what if they set up shop in Korea. So in 1992. Rough Draft Korea was born! Rough Draft Korea’s biggest clients are The Simpsons and SpongeBob among many others as they’re still in business today. And for Rough Draft, they have a Japanese division (Orange) and their US Headquarters eventually moved to Glendale, California. [2]

Greg hated how The Simpsons episode. “The Itchy and Scratchy Movie” portrayed the overseas animators. Even to the point in which he personally wanted to do a retake on the scene.
